Eligible clinical and non-clinical frontline patient-facing NHS primary dental contractors and their frontline staff may visit a general practice or a community pharmacy to be vaccinated. 4/6/21 Latest
Update
from Sara Hurley, Chief Dental Officer England on NHS Dentistry and Oral Health -see update HERE
• • • • •
1/4/21 New UDA & UOA
targets commenced on 1st April and will last for 6 months.
These are:-
60%
activity for UDAs – an increase of 15%
80%
for UOAs – an increase of 10%
To calculate your exact target divide your contracted annual UDA/UOA amount by 2 and then multiply by 60%. This will provide the total target for the next 6 months. Practices that achieve this target before 30th September 2021 will be deemed to have achieved 100% of their contracted UDAs/UOAs and will not be subject to clawback for this period.
The rate of clawback will then reduce linearly down to the existing lower threshold of 36% of the UDAs and 56% of the UOAs. Below these levels, normal clawback will apply. The payment for activity not delivered, exempt from clawback by these arrangements, will continue to be adjusted by 16.75% to take account of variable costs not incurred.
A 16.75% abatement will be applied to those contractual UDAs/UOAs not undertaken. For instance, if you achieve the 60% UDA target exactly the abatement will be applied to 40% of your contractual value for this period but if you achieve 65% the abatement will only be applied on 35% of the contractual value. A similar calculation applies to UOAs, with abatement being applied to 20% of your contractual value for the period should you achieve the 80% target exactly.

BDA has been told consistently that dentists and their teams, both in the NHS and in the private sector, are included in that group. For live
